The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 沉郁而缓慢，被唤醒的创伤意识和无法被生活染色的白，不过越看越感觉Tell更像一个意图假装性感的单纯清教徒。
保罗施拉德放弃了能令人兴奋的一切。牌局高潮，血肉搏杀，哪怕短暂的性爱都是浮云般而过。他所专注在的，永远是过往人们难以遗忘的罪孽与伤痕。于是人们喃喃自语，封锁内心，幻想通过救赎他人来得到宽恕。他剧本中的人物永远将破碎的心藏在一个光鲜的残存外表之下，绝望地在这末世之中建立自己的救赎。
算牌只是份技能，但电影更多讲的是沉浸过去的痛苦回忆，复仇和救赎。
以为是和扑克比赛有关的剧情，其实内核是反对监狱暴力和部队黑暗面，不过整体有种闷闷的气氛，男主的选择有种鱼死网破的决绝。能算牌的概率，却无法掌控自己的人生啊。
摄影和配乐都很好，但是故事不够戏剧化，多了真实感，却过于平淡让人食之无味，弃之可惜。
3.0。运用非布列松的表演方式和剪辑节奏，去表现布列松的电影内核，这是矛盾而无效的。除去鱼眼镜头带来的压迫感，整体极为散漫。

何必要这么讲故事呢？导演应该把自己家里都包上白布，然后拿个黑笔满屋子把意淫构思都画上涂鸦就好了，怎么还能拉投资，叫上几个演员呆若木鸡一样的演一场给观众看呢？
除了回忆中扭曲的监狱还令人耳目一新外，其他部分实在是不行……开头的气势让我以为他有什么惊天大计划，没想到最后变成失足少年拯救片。
7/10 全方位不如《第一归正会》，赌场是施拉德随手抓的一个类型元素么？

男主真帅，女主最后突然很美。整体非常正能量的一部片子。
配乐挺好的，监狱里的那段画面挺喜欢
Absolutely underrated. Dense and tense.
节奏很慢，也并非赌片。静下心来，看到最后，实际上就是内心的反思与自我救赎。不花哨，但沉静有爱。
