The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 如果是新锐导演，这篇能够及格，但是史蒂芬斯皮尔伯格拿出这种作品，真的不是该有的水准！而且，过于与时俱进的肤色，更败好感！
肯定没原版好的，最大的优点是经费充足，歌大致相同，排舞不一样。老爷子为了让故事圆滑，打乱了顺序，可惜的是没有添加新的东西

电影一定是一种形式艺术表达，但一部电影仅靠100%的形式，忽略主题甚至内容，确实太煎熬了……
一个很简单的故事但完成得很差，节奏有问题，并且男女主都过于单薄，不确定是演技还是设定缺失，两个人的爱情戏毫无感染力。但作为一部歌舞片，置景、群舞戏、镜头调度，这些都足够好，所以还是喜欢。
要是说是汤姆霍珀拍的，我能理解，但这是史匹堡，我只能理解为“情怀”吧。
我明白为什么斯皮尔伯格一定要拍它了，对于儿时的他来说真的太过私密了，如果在不趁着现在拍出来，以后他既没精力更没机会了。大师的手笔拍出来的极具光影的质感和精彩绝伦的编排让这部电影更加勃勃生机，包括政治正确的外表也让它更贴近当下，但是它的内核就是老白男的雄性故事。斯如果改了就不是西区故事里，但是其中的表达太过于落后这个时代了，你如果硬找里面的先进性也是属于50年代的，放到现在也算不上多前卫，斯导老了，有一个真正属于他自己的童年追忆给我们看也许并不是坏事，失望算不上，但至少不够多惊喜吧
真的很一般，从舞蹈到表演到角色。故事情节更是令人发指地莫名其妙，一个傻妞儿竟然为了一个素昧平生的男的，连哥哥被杀都不管，依然在当晚上床。整个情感并不令人信服，看完一头雾水，只觉得傻。通篇的种族歧视和没有翻译的西班牙文台词非常令人不愉悦。眼前一直闪现底特律。
豆瓣分这么低啊，不至于吧🙈欧阳万成演圣诞浪漫喜剧没啥不合适的——难道大家更愿意看演他哥哥的那位帅哥演绎josh的那些细腻情绪么 lol 我是没胃口。结尾致敬love, actually自然不尬，好评~
2021了居然还是有这么俗套的爱情片，有asian face但是和asian没有一毛钱关系，可以当下饭菜看一下，
演大嫂的阿丽亚娜．德博斯铁定会获奥斯卡最佳女配角奖了，重头戏份太多了！ 摄影不错，有几段歌舞跳的挺好的，不过我实在不喜欢看歌舞片啊，一唱歌就头大，硬着头皮看完的。
轻松愉悦的romcom小品，非常快消，一定是速朽的那一种。要较真儿的话（虽然对romcom本不必），本片最大的剧本漏洞出在女主的人物设定上，是什么呢？是过于特定，too specific, 她不会是你一个转身就能遇到的人，毕竟绝大多数女性不会在遭遇糟糕的dates之后还可以将之变成生产素材的，也就意味着她们不会去反复试错，因为dating apps不是唯一的找对象的途径，也因为她们还要忙着生活、工作。dating apps上反复试错的只有男性，因为they have little to lose...女主角一直觉得眼熟，但就是没认出来，查了豆瓣才知道原来是《吸血鬼日记》的女一号，想当初陪着前女友看了好多集，这逝去的青春记忆......
纽约街头的罗密欧与朱丽叶，罗密欧杀人被杀，朱丽叶伤心欲绝。
咱不能因为莎士比亚以前这么写过，就原封不动搬过来，一点儿不考虑时代变化了啊。男朋友刚杀死自己亲哥哥就马上跟人家上床了这是什么操作？男主角唱歌难听跳舞难看，谢谢他凉了，女主角跳舞也不怎么样。场景和美工设计非常非常棒，可惜了。

没看过舞台剧和61版，但这个版本的歌舞已经足够出色了
倒是不让人讨厌，这几年是没有什么像样的圣诞电影，前边有点难往下看，但熬过去了倒也还行。后边他爸闻到蜡烛的时候我哭了。Nina还是美啊，但也不是当年Elena的青春了。

说真的虽然电车男+真爱至上真有让人感动，励志的的地方，但是！明明是猥琐男先骗人的为什么女生最后要这样卑微道歉啊，太假了，现实里根本不会有这样的情节。还有，欧阳万成真的真的不适合做恋爱片的男主和那么漂亮的女主。。还是觉得很违和。在最后的吻戏的地方，忍不住按下暂停想跳过那一趴。。
B- 《罗密欧与朱丽叶》两个家族间的无端仇恨，在此写作不同社会结构下的弱者们的悲惨内斗。美梦与爱情一齐下落，审判的枪口却未能指向罪魁祸首。莎翁的故事也许需要一个这样的现代重绘，但百老汇的形式也许是其无奈的阻碍。若是当作斯皮尔伯格的影像调度教案，完美是唯一的形容词汇。
