The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 为强调巴尔扎克作品改编也不用一直旁白吧，除了平庸还是平庸。没想到八五年盛夏小弟爬得这么快当大男主了，甚至还有多兰当绿叶。
原作有两个主角，电影砍掉了其中一个，只聚焦另一个，或许是出于篇幅的考虑，但也让思想性削弱了很多。作为名著改编，在影像上几乎没有什么令人惊艳的段落，而且大段的旁白让影片看上去又很像超长版的故事梗概。最大的价值大概是还算可以吸引观众去阅读原著吧。
得亏有文本的厚度。借古讽今了，一路看下来，满腔的怒火。一个最天真的女性就这么死了。

开头乡间部分诗意盎然，中间部分平白。
FR144 à UGC Les halles. 改编有点大。电影呈现感觉有些后劲不足。
又一个类似于连的小镇青年来到巴黎闯荡，找情妇，找工作，忙到最后又如何。。从前不可能的，如今一一成为可能：银行家从政了，平民也可以发达了。。。天真+虚荣，害人又害己……
回过头来看，名利场的虚伪傲慢，媒体与金钱利益的较量，被时代裹挟的年轻梦想家，自我沉醉麻木，走向自我堕落幻灭，这样的故事，无论经历多少个时代的更迭，终究不停上演，一切都是腐朽。

Pineapple will save us from poetry!就非常basic或者說老套的名著改編，男主也說不上有魅力（大概就是土和演技麻麻吧，主要看起來就智商很低）當年看小說的時候是很喜歡的，但電影實在是睏到不行，多蘭這個扮相實在太奇怪了，好好搞導演事業別演了哥（

3.5，全程多兰口述旁白，这样一个野心勃勃、盛极转衰的年轻人故事已经被描绘得太多，但这一部插入了文学的视角。同样的文学情怀，在平民是遥不可及的梦想，在贵族却不过是生活的锦上添花。
名声决定一切的时代可不就得各种装嘛，可惜最终也没靠女人上位。
