The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 还是爽文模式，有效，但看多了也觉得无趣，虽然是真实事件……
很可悲的一件事是，当不公正发生时，低种姓并不能通过任何方式讨回公道，最终还是要依靠高种姓的良心。
印度不时就会冒出这样西方式主旋律的电影，或许说，一个社会进步到一定地步的时候都会有类似的反映同类现实的文艺作品，我们同样有过，只是之后的发展，各自不同吧。
身处社会底层的人，也必须在有“强权”帮助的情况下，才能强强对抗，不过自身的坚定也是影响结局的关键，片中女性几次的决绝让人热血沸腾，不畏强权，只要真相。律师竟是历史真人，伟大！你这么做是为了达成什么成就吗？不是，只是为了心中的正义。年末2021片子里，类型，时代，地区，完全不同，我却看到了同样的东西，果真心有如来。
“一个人是否值得尊重，不在于他有多少才能，而是取决于他用才能去做什么。”印度版辩护人，能拍出这样的电影，值得尊敬！
相当流畅的叙事手段，在印度电影里难能可贵，归根还是人物肖像片，社会性表达欠奉，关于暴力机关执法过度的问题是世界性话题，本片囿于一笼，没有过多延展，手法也过于老套，好似旧社会讽刺批判剥削阶级一样。
当种姓成为了从出生便背负的原罪，《杰伊·比姆》作为一部为社会最底层人群发声的印度电影，它的社会意义远大于其本身。电影以一起冤假错案为原点，不畏强权，伸张正义的背后，电影让人瞠目结舌的是这起冤案背后执法者颠倒黑白的肮脏，更是印度种姓制度的黑暗。
大部分人就是滥用自己那点微不足道的权力罢了，出了事还得别人给他擦屁股………很多故事就是这么来的
为本片所折射出的良心起立致敬！种姓制度、贫富悬殊、妇女地位低下、卫生条件落后、宗教迷信……使我依然不认为印度是文明的现代化国家，但并不能否认这个国家是完全没有希望的，是不会进步的，而进步不能指望TZ的自我优化，进步是每一个人的一小步，从一点点的努力争取而来，内部监督往往无效无力，外部监督才是正确之路。本片的主角律师是一位包青天式人物，将矛头直指暴力机器之一the police，凭坚毅与正义将公道还之于民，这恰恰是底层民众最希望看到的，印度拍出来了并展现出来了……反观我们，或许可能永远也拍不出来了吧，是因为不公不存在吗，未必
印度这个国度真是神奇！你能在那里发现最现代最奢靡与最原始最卑贱的生活共存！而他们的电影也在朝着多元化深层次不断发展！
正片里最爽的，爽片里最正的。大英雄就是要吊打黑恶势力，算是很好看的社会派法律政剧了。用律师和警官身处对立面的两个角色来向观众证明只要人人都把枪口抬高一厘米，只要官员能亲自见见他们所管理的人们，世界就会变好。印度片的情绪总是异常饱满，不给观众留抽离质疑的喘息时间，甚至似乎连空镜都很少，看多了就有点齁得慌。
这种片子可以被拍出来，本身就是一种伟大。虽然时不时唱歌让我出戏，男主也过于耍帅。印度有爬满火车的人，印度也有宝莱坞。
印度还能继续拍出来这样的电影，看来未来20-30年都不能小看印度，可能印度是以后中国最要提防的对手（借用别人的评论）
看的很难过，一是因为电影里所揭示的不公，二是因为我们无法揭露的不公。
印度版《辩护人》，居然还冲进了IMDB top 250…
