Schrader donne ici une masterclass de comment filmer le vide en plaçant au centre de son film une figure évidée incarnée majestueusement par un Oscar Isaac glacial au visage presque figé inexpressif. Comme un fantôme du passé traumatisant qui hante le présent, le héro ne cesse d'errer dans des lieux publics impersonnels ambiancés par une mise en scène sèche et sidérante. Conte cruel dans une Amérique sans échappatoire ni rédemption possible.
就像男主光着身子坐在桌前，却穿戴整齐躺在床上。赌博者和监狱虐囚两个主题穿插得满是违和感，让作为观者的我感到情绪被切割成很多块，无法拼装。
这片子看的我是真的无聊。很久没看这么无聊的片子了。
daddy还是那个daddy，一把掀翻小屁孩的时候我只能 wow~ 其实配乐都很好听，就是用力过度了一点，太想营造纸醉金迷的糜烂气氛了，以至于整部电影都像一篇“散”文诗。
说实话，本作卡斯阵容也相当不错：
讲着讲着监狱里犯人被如何如何羞辱，然后编剧就忘了自己为啥要讲这个；讲着讲着主角参加牌局到了总决赛，然后主角入狱，总是赌博也不是重点咯，那重点是这个欠了很多债的少年吗？好像也不是，没有感情戏，没有事业线，没有无限明亮的政治正确宣传，也没有文艺闷片的氛围感，我，真的看不懂，虽然男主真是蛮帅的（除了肚腩）
不过有一说一，威廉达福又摆了一个全新角色在我面前，这大叔戏路真的好——————宽。瑞思拜。

文本显而易见的脱胎于《出租车司机》，但老马丁slashing而富有delicacy的掌控力却是施拉德力所不及的。
虽然我挺困的，是真困了，但是电影还是好看的，强撑着睡意看完了。
从头喊到尾的usa，最后监狱成为归宿，一边反思一边讽刺，像是没有力气了。

算牌只是份技能，但电影更多讲的是沉浸过去的痛苦回忆，复仇和救赎。
这片要放在二十年前绝对是部美式文艺神片，无论是男主的挑选还是整体的调调，都可以打满分的。可惜在短视频占统治地位的今天，节奏就稍微有些慢了，信息密度有些低，爽点不够多，也就是我这样的古董业余观影人才会喜欢点赞吧。而且还有一个硬伤就是，为了迎合美式的政治正确，非得整个肥黑女做女主，真是拉垮全片。如果换成一个金发白皮尤物，那这片几乎就没有任何缺点了。
是不是忘了雇编剧啊......都没有故事的吗？！
