The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 3-2 等不到电影院上映了，所以直接下载看了（结果后来导演又被cancel）。看完之后才后知后觉电影的余味，就真的是无依无靠到处流浪，年老力衰没有金钱，子女也在他们自己的世界里好好生活着。

EP.11-14 《鼓屋敷篇》
治愈系还是致郁系？在无数种生活方式中，选了看似最多彩的一种，其实最灰色的一种。不得不上路的人，面对的是——获得与失去，孤独与热闹，相遇与告别，有限与无限……被拉扯的人生。
自由 国人不会那么感同身受的， 许知远的十三邀里说， 他们那个年代让父母参与自己的婚姻相亲什么的， 那得都丢人 。 不是强调孰优孰劣， 而是不同从一开始就存在了。
很喜欢这样的质感，接近纪录片的真诚。感谢导演，给了我宁静的片刻。
总有一个在路上
是很有魅力的片子，影像上充满了漂流和不稳定，在时常出现的宽幅和远景中被放大，又显得孤独渺小。很独特的视角，大家来来走走，生活兜兜转转又回到原点。但我觉得配乐的存在感过强，想要扬起情绪的意图很明显，时而的戛然而止又把被撩拨起来的情绪硬压了回去。并且大家都失去了生活中重要的人这一点在我看来有点刻意了。但总而言之还是一部不错的电影。
好舒服的电影，与其说是转述或呈现不如说更像是我偶然闯入了一个房间，一个人正在倾听另一个人讲话，不肖多时我发现我也想听。又像散文诗，被轻易地带进一个陌生而温暖的世界，里面有温柔的游侠和群居的篝火。那片土地上的治愈是真正从苦难里生出的花，你不用采摘，光是看见就让人也有所宽慰。
除了没有一个死去的丈夫跟尚且睡在屋檐之下，我竟也想不太出自己跟里面的人有什么不一样…
我们有多孤独，就有多自由。非常私人化的体验，钢琴曲像梦呓一般。总有一天，我们会再相逢。See you down the road.
5 平静中爆发出令人惊叹的力量，见天地见众生才能知道自己是多么的渺小。为什么上路的原因可能有很多种，赵婷的电影只用了一个很小的切入点，把生活和人生的意义通过一段又一段旅途展现出来，有相逢有友谊有莫名的情愫也有难以面对的死亡与离别，但别担心也别畏惧，最终我们都将会在路上相见，不管是几个月之后，一年之后，还是很多年之后，就像那束从1987年穿越而来的光，就像那千万年间从宇宙散落的落到我们手中的原子。
因为网速卡而看了无数遍的开头，以至于已经可以默背下分镜。过了很久回味起来，都能记起这个沉默、冷冽、利落的开篇。

流浪远方 流浪
就我而言，这个故事本身的意义要大于影像魅力，影片平实地展示了游牧民的生活，讲述边缘化的困顿，个体归属和自由，相当安静，就像掷入篝火的石头，但除此之外我见不到再多本应引起注视的问题了
都不会像你想象的那样好
内敛而忧伤。配上宁静忧郁的音乐，想着如果相同的故事也在中国西部上演。。。
