任何动荡的年代都有怀才不遇的人 人生就是存在着很多的不确定 明天和意外哪个先来谁也不知道 我们现在这么小心的生活着又和那个动荡的年代有什么区别 稳定的工作带来了稳定的收入 而处处小心到处限制又怎么让我们去享受这收入呢？
只觉得当时的德国非常前卫，文化艺术和人民生活都远高于我们，连服饰都是我们90年代才流行的……

现代主义小说的图像呈现，碎片式剪辑，散乱无中心的叙事，癫狂的人物，糜烂而荒诞的生活。不该活的人依旧活着，本应活着的人悲惨死去，这是对魏玛末世的讽刺与悼念，讽刺德国即将到来的末日，悼念那时尚存理想的青年。
好惊喜的影片，1931年的故事背景却完全没有时代距离感，反而是触手可及的亲切。散文般的叙事手法将正直、善良、纯粹的男主娓娓道来，三小时一点不觉得漫长。

以史为鉴。疯狂的年代一个人究竟该如何生活？如果是我又该怎么办？个人的命运总是难以与之抗衡。一个玩笑就可以杀死一个人的理想，我真的厌世了。这片子也可以理解成理想主义者的悲歌。感觉就算拉布德和法比安没因为玩笑自杀，溺亡，最后也可能受不了那个年代而自杀。
随了剧情推进，形式感被逐渐消解，代入感却越发真实。文青的结局似乎从来都是注定，在任何国家，在任意年代。“我应该去当教师，只有孩子适合拥有理想”。
