The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 全片都是富有「戏剧感」的室内戏，这种形式其实格外难拍，再加上「欲望与性爱」的母题早已泛滥，但这部实确实极好：人物设置张力十足，对话witty（全场笑声不断），节奏精妙，从身体的触碰到精神的疗愈，四次会面使人物关系与影片深度层层递进，影片将SEX的「日常性」(as a daily life act/pleasure)与「象征性」(as a representation for lust, love, power) 完美交织，女性在「性」中的困境被细腻描摹，极为真实动人。即使对与女主完全不同的女性观者（我），也能激起不同层面的情感共振。也想到之前看过的另一部难得展现老年女性的性欲的佳作——《女继承者》。
