The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 是枝裕和擅长的题材，但拍的一点感觉都没有。情节演进不怎么合理，让人真的无法代入和共情。
我爱的凯奇总算演了部好口碑的电影啦，之前虽然都是还债片，但演的也都不差啊。这一部影片算是讨巧的，和他本人超级契合。也只有他可以在银幕前把自己演的那么颓废。
也算是可爱的。结尾女儿问有没有人看过《帕丁顿熊2》，已经看过的凯奇什么也没说，只是陪着再看了一遍。这个片段dejavu了。谁没在爱的人面前撒过几个温柔的谎呢 ★★★☆
有关这片子的一切都是烂俗的，除了尼古拉斯凯奇。
此片并不是说多优秀，但起码又让观众看到了真情实感的凯奇。
表演上IU一角的心理转变拉动了情节蔓延；宋康昊的影帝表彰的主要是他对韩国影坛的贡献，而不仅基于本片。
本质上就是个神经病喜剧 想必能给凯奇的粉丝带来不少乐趣
不可避免地把这部电影和《小偷家族》进行比较，同样是关注社会底层边缘人群拥抱取暖，一个离异一个妓女两个孤儿，在卖子的路途上感情越来越深，被助者和施助者依然形成了一组背叛与情感的矛盾体，他们在两位警察的视角下，呈现出了人与人相处最真实的情感。

想知道如果凱奇看完劇本以後不同意出演，導演會怎麼辦
一直觉得是枝裕和的电影一定要放在东方语境下才是完美的，再加上一个絮絮叨叨的欧巴桑，这些都没有了，那也就不是我们认识的是枝裕和，他真的只是一辈子只适合拍一种电影的巨匠！哎，导演，我还是想念步履不停，想念夏天的树木希林！！
就像我不喜欢小偷家族一样，也不喜欢这部电影，虽然看完也没有看出是是枝裕和。前半段，其实只是开头，以为是一部无比黑暗的电影，妓女，非婚生子，杀人，贩卖弃婴，地下黑市等等。可交代完这些，所有人都变成了好人，无缘无故的，最坏的人变成了警察，再后来，连警察也良心发现。在是枝裕和的世界里，没有坏人的。关于父母与子女究竟是谁应该感谢谁这个问题，其实不应该这样问，因为，任何一方都不应该奢望被感谢，关于养育和赡养，只是等价交换，这种形式只有儒家思想的国家还在遵循，很多国家从来不认为这是对等关系，父母养到18岁，离开了爱回来不回来，养老全靠自己。所以这18年的共处，是快乐还是折磨，决定了是感谢还是憎恨。
居家办公，带薪看电影，真爽！！！
打着喜剧幌子的迷影片，就挺可爱的www又有谁不想要一串"A really elegant string-of-pearls configuration"呢？
说实话又老套又无聊，特别各种各样的情感升华尬死了转变也很突然，但是几个笑点又确实让人吐了吐气，如果是凯奇老粉可能会感触多一些吧。。。
很想知道为什么日本导演到中国拍片会有CCTV8电视剧的味道，韩国导演到中国拍片会有廉价恐怖片的味道。为什么是枝裕和拍《真相》是那样的，为什么是枝裕和拍《掮客》是这样的。是什么在影响跨地域的质感。
是枝裕和继偷出来的亲情后，又拍了种卖出来的亲情。
三星剧本，但冲着情怀多一星。里边有很多致敬凯奇早年经典作品的梗，还挺亲切的，能看出导演还是挺有野心的，但影片调度和对剧本的挖掘还是有些平庸，幽默也只靠碎片的段子化表演来呈现，效果差强人意。不管怎么样，作为影迷看到凯奇新作还是蛮开心的。
