Summary
Bullied by his matriarchal mother, abused by his siblings, ignored by his father, Poil de Carotte's childhood is as miserable as it could be. An illegitimate child, he is the main reason for the enmity which exists between his parents, who continue to live together just to keep up appearances. In the end, Poil de Carotte's suffering becomes more than he can bear...
Review
Drawing heavily on the poignant novel by Jules Renard on which it is based, Poil de carotte is a modest yet appealing film which has stood the test of time mainly because of the quality of its acting performances and its inherent humanity. It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.
The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944. Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance. The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.

深蓝色的夜幕、天台上梦幻乐园般的柔光、八零年代质感的巴黎日间街景和音乐，带出光影下的生活碎片，还有人物情节情绪流动。是人生的过客还是常客并不重要，只要在那一刻拥有“有你们在场的快乐”，非常抚慰人心。夏洛特甘斯布的角色和她的声音，柔软敏感细腻包容，太迷人。
它是《圆月映花都》，是《高、低与脆弱之间》，它也是《巴黎夜旅人》。

“天地如逆旅，我亦是行人。”又一部让我对巴黎产生向往之情的电影。甘斯布好美啊。虽然还是在讲怀旧和迷影情怀，但用得不让人厌烦。音效让人印象深刻。

米夏埃尔真是继承了一套美式抒情招式。将美国小清新故事放置到巴黎的语境之下不知为何总是显得脱轨。

细腻温馨的法国家庭剧情片。笔触柔美轻缓，娓娓道来。好不容易有一部巴黎怀旧片皆是所谓真善美呀。
人们过度在意着日常的琐碎，忘记了夜间同样是生活的重要组成。只不过在这样的时间段里，看似变慢的时间，却在人来人往中，加速着欲望、快乐与苦痛的动态平衡。最终的结果，最后的取舍，全然出自你的本心。米夏埃尔·艾斯用极佳的审美，曼妙的音乐，挑逗着巴黎午夜的氤氲，艾曼纽·贝阿、诺亚·阿比塔充满着不同年龄层的独有魅力，而夏洛特·甘斯布则像河流汇入海洋一般，一瞬间便能卷走你所有的爱。
看完心里空空的，温暖又带着些伤感，爱上一个夜旅人，但她还是走了，留下美好的回忆
